1/4 INFOS  -  QS NEWS
n° 1 - September 99

Dear modelist friend

- What
This news-letter wants to be to be the first of a serie and I hope to made one every 3 month. It is addressed to all QS car owner, clubs that have a track section and specialized stores, that means about 1700 people. The goal of QS NEWS is to be a link between the QS drivers & manufacturer, present and future, and to centralize and to make circulate the info concerning our hobby (passion).

- Indispensable
First of all it is necessary to notice that QS always exists in spite of the Yankee closing, I wish to thank French magazine RC-Racing Car for the cover of the '99 French Championsfip (CF). It is evident from the discussions that I had with numerous people that your main problem is to know where to find spare parts.
Here are people adress that manufacture or sale some parts Yankee compatible. These modelist, through their societies, manufacture these pieces by passion, contact them!

- New in '99
Year '99 saw the creation of the " Group F ", that the pilots wanted to name " Fun Class". This class is reserved to non-experts drivers and is accessible with all QS cars and bodyshell. There is a gentlemen-agreement that makes that non-expert drivers but with a good level forbidden themselves to run in. In this very convivial category, a young pilot is champ: Comtat Adrien with a 905 Spider and a cool Zenoah but a very good driving and a terrifying kindness. Ladies & Gentlemen, pull out your old (or new) 911 Porsches or others Alfa, BMW of the cupboard and join them!!! !

The French Championship had this year a participating identical to '98; thanks to our Switzerland friends. A number of participants equal to some other R/C categories or manufacturer cups that yet benefit of more of advertisement and reports in magazine! And always with a friendship and an exemplary fair play.

- Local races
I often heard saying ".. there is no QS local race ...". If you want some local races, the Leagues Annual General Meeting to be held soon, it's up to you to ask for your presidents of clubs and leagues and to give a help for the organization of such races.

Cost:
It is often reproached the QS his "elevated cost". Let's take in example 2 other scales, 1/8 and 1/5; this without polemic, only for as a comparison and in the setting of a local championship for 1/8 & 1/5 and French Championship for QS

COMPARISON - Annual costs

All prices are in French Francs, ($1 ~ 6.40 FFR, 1DM ~ 3.45 FFR)

Note concerning this table:
The prices and consumption are French averages, hotel or camping and displacements are not count because the KM's (miles) are the same price whatever is the discipline.
QS is taken on the French championship because informations miss me for CR/CL races, it implies that for 6 races it is 9 days of race: 6 Saturdays afternoon + 6 Sundays. Are not also processed of the personal and very variable information as: resale of the material at the end of season, repair & upgrade of the existing material or reuse of material the following year.
For QS, it is the GT class, wich is consider the more expensive, that I take for.

Whatever the discipline, it is necessary to notice that quantity of other hobbys or sports exist with equivalent or superior costs: MTB, karting, motorcycle, computer, sail boarding, photography etc… But it is a debate that is far away the spirit of this letter.

The near future e
The Cup of France will take place at St. Savinien on October 2 & 3, 1999, this race is open, for register write to:
Mr DELAGE Christian
3 HLM Le Puyvineux
17350 SAINT SAVINIEN
As usual specify your category, license #, 2 frequencies ...
An end of year race at St. Sav' is always a mixture of competition, gastronomy and ROFL (Rolling On Floor for Laughing). Come, let's confront our cars on the track, our ideas and our expertise around a good table and be proud to be part of those that will have work on renewal of our favorite scale!

Conclusion
I really wish to thank the clubs that had courage to organize us of the CF races in 99: Mâcon, Lyons, Mutzig, The Marmousets, Moulins and St. Savinien.
I know that others are on the ranks for 2000, thank you beforehand.
If some stores wish to liquidate their Yankee parts stock, they can address me the list
by fax : +33 (0)3-88-64-22-86 or by E-mail Mail-me your list.

Hoping to see you on tracks soon.

Alain Lévy
